Project Overview

Brief

The brief was to experiment and create a typeface using different letterforms which were inspired by concepts of graffiti and subways to create a typeface "Subgraffica"

Create a typeface and its type specimen having a contextual relation with Beirut, Lebonon.

Inspiration was taken
from graffiti and strokes
of calligraphy in which
the tool is held.

PROCESS

Sketched out every
letter, digitized it and
set the kernings.

Typeface

Taking this letterform forward, created the rest of the letters of this
typeface.

Focusing on some interesting looking
letterforms.

SUBGRAFFICA

My inspiration was subways and street art. The name subgraffica was chosen by combining subway and graffiti.

SUBWAY

Created this graffiti using ‘subgraffica’ font which is inspired by graffiti.

POSTCARDS

Using as the cover of a postcard or greeting card.

SKATEBOARD

Applying it as a funk art on the cover side of the skateboards.

WALLPAPER

Using the font as actual graffiti on the wall or as wallpaper.
